McFarlane Library
The McFarlane Library was established in 2022 and aptly named after our late chair of governors, Mr Frank McFarlane. Mr McFarlane was a teacher of English, talented pianist and philanthropist for many causes, specifically for the visually impaired, a community which Mr. McFarlane was a part of. Teaching in St. Vincent's School for Blind and Partially-Sighted children until early retirement in 2004, Mr. McFarlane then went on to be a tutor for teachers of the visually impaired, trustee for organisations across the country and governor at multiple schools including Litherland High, and he will forever be a part of our #LivoFamily.
The McFarlane Library is open at 8am every day. Students can use the library before school, during break, lunch and after school until 4pm for reading or to complete and print off homework. We also have scrabble, chess and card games for students to use.
We stock an extensive range of fiction and non-fiction texts which are updated regularly, so that there is always something new for avid readers to choose from!
Fortnightly library lessons are scheduled for Y7 & Y8 where students can read, write reviews, choose new books and discuss what they are reading.
We also run various competitions and after school activities such as Spring and Winter craft events and a celebration of World Book Day in March each year.
Your library members of staff are Ms V McGimpsey & Miss L Bentley.
